Alon Nechushtan's music adventures has brought him to far corners such as the Yokohama Festival Japan with his contemporary compositions, The Sao-Paolo Brazil Jewish Music Festival with his Quintet Talat, Toronto and Montereal's Rex Hotel with his Jazz Trio and The Tel Aviv New Music Biannale with his Compositions for Large Ensemble.
Resident of New York City, Alon has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Central Park Summer Stage, The Blue Note Jazz Club and Joe's Pub frequently with his projects as a band leader of various groups or as an in demand sideman.
All About Jazz magazine called him a fantastic pianist-composer with abundant chemistry and boundless eclectisism.

Since moving to New York in the early 2003, Alon has played piano and collaborated with Jazz greats including William Parker, Daniel Carter, Roy Campbel, Sam Ford, Bob Moses, Ben Allison, Quinsin Nachoff, John Ellis, Anat Cohen, Fransisco Mela, Andy Statman, Chris Lightcap, Fima Efron, Frank London, Chris Cheek, Chris Speed, Michael Marcus, Jeff Hirshfield, Matt Darriau, Marc Helias, Marc Dresser, Andrew Cyrile, Assif Tzahar, Harold Rubin, Marcus Rojaz, Brigann Kraus, Lukas Ligeti, Bob Gulotti, John Lockwood, Ed Schuller, George Schuller, Alicia Svigals, Alber Beger, Albert and Yossi Piamenta, and many more.
Alon has played as sideman in various ensembles including Frank London's trio (with Marcus Rojaz and Frank London), Baye Kouyate and his afro beat ensemble featuring Emilio Valdez, Alicia Sviagals Klezmer Quartet with Larry Eagle, Kenny Wollesen Himalays with Ben Goldberg and other guests, Nick Gianni's Evolution , Root Valdez and QB3 , Daniel Carter Quartet with Roy Campbell and Sabir Mateen, William Parkers Ensemble with Andrew Bemkey and Matt Welch, Jeremy Dannmen quartet with Ben Allison and Tony Moreno, New York Sound painting Orchestra, Dave Schnitter, Bruce Cox, Saul Rubin ensemble and many more. As an active band leader, Alon founded quintet TALAT in 2002. The ensemble is dedicated to his original works and recorded a CD on John Zorn's Tzadik Records mixed by the great Bill Laswell. The group played and toured frequently in Canada, Israel, Europe, U.K, France and the U.S in venues such as the Washington D.C Jewish music Festival, Palm Beach Celebrate Israel Festival, The Blue Note Jazz Club, Joes' Pub at the Public Theatre, Cambridge Sons of Abraham Festival, CGBG's Gathering of the stars Festival, Brooklyn and Williamsburg Jazz Festival, Columbia University' Israel Day and many more.
Alon has released his piano trio LABYRINTHS on the Swedish label Ayler records, with the Bob Gulotti and John Lockwood on the rhythm section, playing his original compositions. Another Trio with Dan Weiss and Francois Moutin is in the post production stages and will be released in the fall.

Alon has written original compositions for (and performed in) various big bands including the New England Conservatory Jazz Composers Big Band, directed by Bob Brookmeyer, The MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble directed by Fred Harris, and the BMI Orchestra directed by Jim Mcneily and Michael Abene. As an active band leader, Alon founded a klezmer jazz quintet TALAT in 2002. The ensemble is dedicated to his original works and recorded a CD on John Zorn's Tzadik Records mixed by the great Bill Laswell.
Alon has written many chamber pieces commissioned by leading contemporary ensembles in the U.S., his native Israel, and Europe. In 2006, his Dark Forces for double bass and electronics premiered at Project Soundwave, San Francisco by Damon Smith; his Invisible Motion for the Radnofsky Saxophone Quartet was commissioned and performed at the New Gallery Concert Series in Boston. In 2005, Hypnotic Suggestions for Euphonique Saxophone Quartet was commissioned and performed at the Bloomingdale School of Music, New York.
In 2003 Light Our Sorrow was commissioned by Dutch pianist Marcel Worms and Eleonore Pameije; it premiered and was recorded in Amsterdam, Holland. As part of the Music from Six Continents project, the piece was played in 20 more countries around the world over the next two years. The U.S. premiere was in 2004 in the Zeitgeist Gallery in Cambridge. Alon's Gory Tales, inspired by the paintings of Edward Gorey, was commissioned and performed by Rinat Avisar at the Schwartzsche Villa in Berlin, Germany.
Alon has composed and performed in many countries including Japan, where he was invited to compose a piece for the 'Rejoicing Sounds' Festival in Yokohama; South Africa, where he received warm welcome for his Ancient City Blues for piano performed by Marcel Worms; and Israel where he has premiered the piece Duel for double quartet with the Musica Nova Consort during the Bianalle for New Music in Tel Aviv, conducted by the Australian conductor Keynan Jones.
Alon has collaborated on new works with numerous choreographers in the U.S., his native Israel, and in Europe including Netta Pulvermacher-Neta Dance, Valerie Norman-Van Dance, Edisa Weeks -Delirious Dance, Clare Byrne Dance, Jim May and Anna Sokolow Dance, Julie Gayer and Avodah Dance, Kenny Larson dance , Mariana Beckerman Dance, Ilanit Tadmor, Victoria Hanna, Sally Ann Friedlander, Deganit Shemi Dance, Wendy Osserman-Wo Dance, Valerie Green-Dance Entropy, and Pele Bauch. These compositions have been presented at Dance Theater Workshop, Performance Space 122, Danspace Project at St. Marks Church, La mamma Theatre, Movement Research at the Judson Church, Dance New Amsterdam, W.A.X, The Flea, The Brick, Tribeca Perfomance Center, Merce Cunnigham, and other venues in New York City, Europe, and Jerusalem.
He has collaborated with many visual artists and composed music for films and theatre pieces including the International Movie Festival in Tel Aviv and International Festival of University Theatre in Jerusalem with the play Exit the King by Eugene Ionesco collaborating with the French director Alexey Dalzas.

Alon received his Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory in December 2002, studying piano with Fred Hersch, Paul Bley, Ran Blake, Danilo Perez, big band and jazz composition with Bob Brookmeyer, improvisation with Jerry Bergonzy, Bob Moses, George Garzone, Henry Thredgill and Uri Caine in the School for Improvisation in New York. Adittional compositions lessons with Michael Gandolfi, orchestration with Lee Heyla and privately with Lukas Foss.
Alon received his Bachelor's in 1999 from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance having studied composition with Mark Kopytman, Tzvi Avni, Heinz Alexander, Joseph Bardanashvily and movie scoring with Slava Ganelin.

Alon has won the Liberson Composition Award (2011) for his composition 'La vida Es Un Pasaje' for the Israeli Contemporary String Quartet, the Brooklyn Art Council Grant for his Compositions for String Quartet and Electronic Tape (2011) comissioned by the NorthSide Town Hall in Brooklyn, the Acum 'fund for the support of the creation' award for his Dark Forces Suite for Electronics (2011), six America-Israel Cultural Foundation awards (1995-2001), The Israeli Composers League Award (2010) for his trio 'words beyond' The American Music Live music for Dance Award (2009) for his collaboration with Netta Pulvermacher in the creation of 'Fold , the New England Conservatory Award (2001), The Kerem-Jerusalem Award (1999, 2000), he received the 1st prize in the Rubin Academy of music composition award (2001) for his composition 'The Garden of Forking Paths' for String Orchestra conducted by Avner Biron and grants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Israel for his tour in Japan at the Yokoham Music Festival (2002).
